ECS Barcelona 2 won by Pak I Care Badalona CC

After 1 week of rest ECS again organized the second ECS Barcelona tournament with 9 teams in the Estadio Perez de Rozas in Barcelona. The 7 best teams from the ECS first tournament plus 2 new teams will participate in this tournament from November 9 to 20, 2020. The teams are Catalunya CC, Falco CC, Catalunya Tigers CC, Raval Sporting CC, Badalona Shaheen CC, Bangladesh Kings CC, Fateh CC from the first tournament, Minhaj CC and Pak I Care Badalona CC are the new teams that have not participated in the first tournament.

After 10 days and 40 games, Pak I Care Badalona CC won the tournament final against Catalunya CC.

However, things could have been very different if Badalona Shaheen had found three more runs in the first game of the day. Chasing 131 for victory, Shaheen seemed to be on the way to victory with Babar Khan firing at full speed. However, a couple of wickets and several dot balls at the end of the game by Atif Muhammad reduced Badalona’s load and they fell terribly short of the required total. Babar Khan finished with 71 not out, but that will be of little consolation to the Shaheen star as it was Pak-I-Care who advanced to the final.

Catalunya CC

Cataluyna CC found things much easier in the other semifinal. Initially struggling with 28 for two, they recovered well thanks to Yasir Ali (74 not out) and Ibrar Hussain (32 not out) to post a powerful score of 131 for two. The Tigers got off to a terrible start and were reeling at 28 for six after just 26 balls. They were never at ease at the crease and only Ghulam Dastgeer made two figures. They were finally bowled out for 66 to lose by 65 runs.

Badalona Shaheen CC

The bronze medal turned out to be a consolation for Shaheen, who beat the Tigers in a thrilling contest. The Tigers put a respectable 121 for two on the board with opener Shahid Bhatti hitting an unbeaten 71. In response, Shaheen was even more powerful with the bat and Hamza Saleem had his match winner. He hit 60 off just 32 balls to give his team the perfect start. Malik Mati Ur Rehman continued where Bhatti left off and scored 36 not out to see his team home with two balls to spare.

Catalunya Tigers CC

Unfortunately, the end was a bit of a disappointment as Pak-I-Care rolled over Cataluyna. The new champions scored 89 from two in just 33 balls to overcome the miserable score of 85 that Cataluyna had scored. Congratulations to Pak-I-Care for a well-deserved victory in the tournament.
