The German Cricket Federation (DCB) is trying to restart international cricket in the country, with a four-team men’s T20I series announced this week.
The planned tournament is provisionally scheduled from May 16 to 18. Bringing together the hosts with their neighbours, France, Norway and Spain, the DCB hopes that the competition will serve as preparation for the upcoming European stage of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers. The four teams will have to shake off the cobwebs, as Germany and Spain have not played since March 2020, Norway’s last official match in 2019 (although they played a friendly series against Denmark in August last year) and France since 2018.
The four teams will have to travel to Finland for the sub-regionals, starting in June, where they will compete in an authentic cricket jamboree with 20 more nations for three bands in the European finals.
first major use of DCB’s new national performance center in Krefeld, which was completed at the end of last year. The complex includes an installation of indoor nets, as well as its ICC standard outdoor grass square.
