Cricket is an unknown sport for many people, but for other people from Asian and Anglo-Saxon countries, it is one of the most important sports. This is why the Catalan Cricket Federation’s main objective is to introduce and promote cricket.
As you could see, a few days ago, in Catalonia, we started playing the Women’s League, an occasion that we were able to celebrate and inaugurate with the participation of the clubs, the members of the Board of Directors of the federation and with the Manager of the “Barcelona Sports Institute”. With this inauguration, we wanted to lay the groundwork to start promoting and promoting women’s sports, and put the focus on female players. We wanted to highlight the work done by the players, the teams, the clubs and the technical teams that for years they have carried out throughout the Metropolitan Area, focusing on the Besòs-Maresme area.
For us, creating this league was the opportunity to introduce cricket, but after knowing the history of the players, the challenges they have faced, the migratory processes they have experienced and the strength they have to overcome, it shows us that the Women’s League began much before May 11, 2024.
Now we can only say and assure that the Women’s League will be a space where competition acquires a different meaning than the traditional one, it will be the fight and the history of all its protagonists and as the Catalan Cricket Federation we commit to continue betting on the Women’s League.
